If you like the new Ford Bronco's styling and capabilities but want a more affordable and street-friendly version, the Ford Bronco Sport near Louisville KY may be just what you're looking for.

Built on the same modified platform of the Ford Escape, the Bronco Sport hopes to integrate the rugged look and feel of the Bronco with the traditional strengths of the crossover SUV, like better fuel economy and better road manners. And even though the Escape and Bronco Sport do share the exact car-based (unibody frame), front wheel drive configuration and probably 80% of their components, the Bronco Sport has standard AWD, an assortment of traction settings, and serious off-road attributes that will never be confused with the Escape.

The Ford Bronco Sport near Louisville KY base model, Big Bend trim, and Outer Banks trim all come with a 1.5 liter turbocharged 3-cylinder EcoBoost motor that delivers 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. It gets decent gas mileage with 25 mpg city, 28 highway, and 26 combined, yet still has great get-up-and-go. Ford expects this choice to sell the best in the Bronco lineup.

Ford Bronco Sport near Louisville KY: Exclusive Features

Present exclusively in the Bronco Sport Badlands trim and the First Edition trim (a limited, one-time only trim) is a 2.0-liter turbo generating 245 hp and 277 lb.-ft of torque. This engine rates 21 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. This engine and the 1.5 liter are both accompanied by the same 8-speed automatic, and unlike the bigger Bronco, a manual isn't offered.

Paddle shifters on the wheel are another feature unique to the First Edition and Badlands trims, along with additional coolers added to both the transmission and the rear drivetrain. This was done to enhance performance during even that harshest off-road adventures.

As stated, all models of the Ford Bronco Sport near Louisville KY have standard AWD, but every trim doesn't get the same setup. The models with the 3-cylinder motors have an AWD system that's similar to the Escape, although there's new software designed to maximize off-road abilities. But the Bronco Sport's system is all about keeping traction with the ground beneath it to maximize its power.

In the top two models, an exclusive torque-vectoring differential was added in the rear axle. Up to 100% of available torque can be transferred by the twin-clutch system, along with creating a locking and limited-slip differential, by locking the transmission into first gear.

When confronted with a tough off-road trail, the Bronco Sport has proved itself to be just as capable as its competitors. Though the Bronco Sport does not have an active transfer case for low-ratio gears, off-roaders will find no other small SUV at this price that does the job as well, whether a beginner or an expert.
